June Hunt is an author, singer, speaker and founder of Hope for the Heart, a worldwide biblical counseling ministry that features the award-winning radio broadcast by the same name heard daily across America. Additionally, Hope in the Night is June’s live two-hour call-in counseling program that helps people untie their tangled problems with biblical hope and practical help. June’s warmth, wisdom and wit let you know that you have a real friend behind the microphone. Early family pain was the catalyst that shaped June’s compassionate heart. Later, as youth director for more than 600 teenagers, she became aware of the need for sound biblical counseling. Her work with young people and their parents led June to a lifetime commitment of providing God’s truth for today’s problems.
After years of teaching and research, she developed Counseling through the Bible, a scripturally-based counseling course addressing 100 topics, such as depression and parenting, anger and abuse, guilt and grief. From this course, June authored and produced the Biblical Counseling Keys – all designed to move people from wrong thinking to right thinking . . . from wrong living to right living. In response to a flood of international requests, June’s works are currently being translated into 14 languages. Hope for the Heart radio programs are being broadcast in 25 countries. These Counseling Keys have become the foundation for the Hope for the Heart Biblical Counseling Institute initiated by The Criswell College, where June earned her Master of Arts degree in counseling. Each three-hour or six-hour Institute provides monthly training to help spiritual leaders, counselors and other caring Christians meet the very real needs of others. As a guest professor at colleges and seminaries, June teaches courses both nationally and internationally on topics such as crisis counseling, child abuse, wife abuse, homosexuality, forgiveness, singleness and self-worth.
June’s books include over 30 topical HopeBooks and the 31-day devotional Seeing Yourself Through God’s Eyes, which is often used in counseling offices, churches and small group Bible studies; Healing the Hurting Heart, which reads like a counseling handbook; and Bonding with Your Teen through Boundaries, which presents creative approaches to help parents tackle 35 of the most challenging problems facing teenagers. June’s most recent book, Caring for a Loved One with Cancer, comes from her own experience and contains a personal view of how to better express love to a loved one. June is also a contributor to the Soul Care Bible, Women’s Devotional Bible and Gloria Gaither’s book What My Parents Did Right. Her writing has been featured in Focus on the Family’s Single-Parent Family magazine. As an accomplished musician, June has been a guest on numerous television and radio programs, including the NBC Today show. She has toured overseas with the USO and been a guest soloist with the Billy Graham Crusades. Three recordings – Songs of Surrender, Hymns of Hope and The Whisper of My Heart – all respect her message of hope. Because of June’s compassionate heart for the hurting, The Shelter under His Wings features 50 comforting verses from the Psalms woven between soothing songs that calm the spirit and bring solace to the soul. Whether writing, speaking or singing, June Hunt is dedicated to helping people experience changed lives. She does this by presenting God’s truth for today’s problems because she knows that a changed mind produces a changed heart, and a changed heart produces a changed life.
