A native Texan, Charles R. Swindoll was born in El Campo, on October 18, 1934. Chuck joined his brother, Orville, and his sister, Luci, as the third and last child of Earl and Lovell Swindoll. Ordained into the gospel ministry in 1963, Chuck Swindoll has developed a unique expository preaching style marked by clear and accurate presentation of Scripture, with an emphasis on the practical application of Bible to everyday living, and making God’s truths a reality in the lives of people. After serving as Dallas Theological Seminary’s fourth president for seven years (1994–2001), Chuck became the seminary’s chancellor in 2001. As the sixth-largest seminary in the world, DTS’s primary goal is to equip godly servant-leaders for the proclamation of God’s Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide, a mission Chuck wholeheartedly supports in his life and teaching. He continues to uphold the school’s motto, “Preach the Word,” as he serves in leadership at Dallas Theological Seminary, at Insight for Living, and at Stonebriar Community Church.
